What should I bring with me?
Depending on whether you are spending the night with us or just coming for the day, you might want to bring the following items:
- Bag Chairs
- Personal Ice Chest, (BYOB)
- Sunscreen
- Air Rafts
- Personal Life Vest if preferred
- Mountain Bikes,
- Change of Clothes
- Mosquito repellent
- Hat
- Binoculars
- Kayak (you can rent one if you need to)
- Fishing gear
What if I’d like to go out by myself for relaxed walk or so?
We certainly encourage self-guided birding outings or walks and provide aerial maps of our nature trails
What is the lodging like at Tara?
I have small children and want them to experience Kayaking. We have never been in a Kayak before.
Angi has many years of demonstrating and teaching new Kayakers of all ages, and provides Kayaks to fit everyone. Please bring any personal life-vest you have that fits very small children.
My children would love to learn how to fish. Is fishing available?
Tara Staff provides Cane Poles for all to fish in the pond adjacent to the Lodge. Bait is provided along with instruction.
I’m not an experienced Birder but I do enjoy photography and the outdoors. Would there be an opportunity for both activities?
Bruce Reid, our Nature and Birding guide, is an avid outdoor enthusiast. He’s extra helpful with beginners of birding. The tours provide an excellent opportunity for photography.
I’ve recently purchased an off-road bike. Can I take a ride solo or do I need to join the group ride?
We can provide Bike Route Maps for leisure Biking on your own. We ask all Bikers to sign in and sign out upon return for your safety.
I want to visit Tara and do some outdoor activities, are there other ways to come visit?
We have cabins that are available for weekend rentals. If you stay overnight with us, you will be able to kayak, walk the trails, bike the roads and trails, or bird watch on the property while you are here: Vicksburg Cabin Rentals
