Have you ever wondered how a turkey or duck call is made? Maybe you’ve wondered why there are different calls for different animals? The game call demonstration is one of our fun rainy-day activities at camp.
We are honored to have two professional game call representatives come to camp each year to teach our campers about making and using game calls.
Their presentation includes a discussion of how game calls are made and why they have different tones and sounds. They show examples of game calls using different materials, including calls that are used in the mouth vs. calls that are external.
Campers learn how to use a game call and then we have a mock contest to see which kid can use the call the best. It’s all in good fun and everyone gets a laugh at some of the noises that come out of the calls.
