Natchez Trace Parkway

Eagle Lake
A popular fishing location for bass and crappie. Eagle Lake was once part of the Mississippi River. As the silt settled in this bend of the river, an oxbow lake was formed.

Vicksburg Military Park
Civil War history buffs will enjoy a trip to the nearby Vicksburg Military Park featuring the USS Cairo Gunboat and Museum and Vicksburg National Cemetery.
Coca Cola Museum
Located in Vicksburg, the museum has a wide variety of Coca-Cola memorabilia and advertisements. This is the site where Coke was first bottled in 1894.
Old Courthouse Museum
Built in 1858, the Old Courthouse is Vicksburg’s most historic structure and has hosted such guests and speakers as Jefferson Davis, Ulysses S. Grant, Booker T. Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, and William McKinley.

BB King Museum
Located in Indianola, just 94 miles from Tara, is the BB King Museum, showcasing the personal papers, materials, and objects from King’s long career and life. Enjoy a presentation on the King of Blues in the museum’s theatre.

McCarty’s of Merigold
Award winning potters, Lee and Pup McCarty began making pottery in 1954. The Barn, which is the pottery studio, offers pottery for sale, New York cuisine at The Gallery, and a tour through the gardens. McCarty’s of Merigold is just over 2 hours from Tara.
Mississippi Museum of Art
With a permanent collection of American Art and rotating exhibits, the Museum of Art also showcases Mississippi artists, European Artists, and much more. Located in Jackson.
