The habitat at Tara Wildlife, combined with sensible harvest criteria, produces numerous Pope and Young Class bucks annually.
On average, 20+ Pope & Young Class (gross scores) white-tailed deer bucks are harvested each season from our property. Bucks weighing over 200 pounds are common and as high as 320 pounds have been recorded.

Allowable Buck Harvest
One Buck per Tara Wildlife’s harvest criteria is allowed per 3-day hunt.
On average, 20+ Pope & Young Class (gross scores) white-tailed deer bucks are harvested each season from Tara Wildlife’s property.
Buck Harvest Criteria
At least 3 of the following criteria must be met:
- Weight – 185lbs
- Main beam length – 21″
- Antler base – 4″
- Inside spread – 16″

How it Works
Deer hunt reservations will be held for 10 days after verbal booking. A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking or reservations will be cancelled. The balance of payment is due July 1.
Bookings made later than June 1 will have their balance due on September 1.
Balances are due within 30 days for any booking made later than September 1 or reservations will be canceled.

You’ll find the perfect accommodations at Tara Wildlife for your stay. We have cabins for rent as well as comfortable rooms in Tara Lodge. We can accommodate up to 15 hunters at a time. Our 3 daily meals are traditional Southern favorites.
